Blackened Veins is a Vampire the Masquerade Camarilla clan only LARP based in Portland. It is part of the One World by Night organization of interlinked games. The game is played on the second Saturday of the month at USM. There are over 50 players and appears to be the largest LARP going right now in the area, although as far as I know the others in the area seem to be doing well with attendance as well.
One World by Night is as I said an organization of interlinked games. It is all based on White Wolf's World of Darkness. Each game is its own individual game with its own Story Tellers and plot. The difference is that all games have agreed to use the same character generation guidelines and NPCs such as Justicars and Archons. Since White Wolf stopped producing material for WoD, OWbN has had some changes happen to the world such as Gangrel rejoining the Camarilla. The cool part of this is it wasn't an arbitrary decision or written in for plot, it was driven by the PC's playing Gangrel. Another nice thing is the ability to take your character to another game played in another city. There are several of us who have traveled down to Hartford Ct to play in their game and we frequently have people travel up to our game from several other games. It's fun to play with different games and can be really good for your character, or even bad in some cases as it is with any LARP.
Blackened Veins website is still in development, but keep an eye on: http://www.blackenedveins.com/ you can contact the staff of the game at Blackened_Veins_ST@yahoogroups.com or just talk to John W, he is on staff. If you are interested in seeing what OWbN is all about then you can go here: http://www.owbn.org
Hope that helps out with questions you have, if any more just ask, we are always looking for more players |

Now I know some people may feel a little odd going to a larp, a lot of people hear larp and think of well this: Time index for the larp bit is 8:05

But I have to say that this game was a pleasant surprise and well worth the time spent. I've been going for 3 months so far (as of 5/16/09) and it has completely changed my views on larping for the better. |
